FileFix — Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 15, 2026.
FileFix is operated by MCKE Enterprises Worldwide LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("we," "us"). We built FileFix to do one job — repair your file — and to know as little about you and your file as possible while doing it. This policy explains what that means in practice.
1. What we collect
- The file you upload, and the repaired output we produce from it. We use these only to perform the repair you requested.
- Basic operational data needed to run and secure the service: timestamps, file type and size, error and diagnostic logs, IP address, and technical request metadata.
- Contact details, only if you provide them (for example, an email address for your download link or a support request).
- Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
We do not require you to tell us what your file contains, and by default we don't look.
2. No human view, by default
By default, no human opens or watches the contents of your file. Repair runs through automated processing designed to fix the file's structure without anyone viewing what is inside it.
The narrow exceptions: (a) you explicitly ask us to look (for example, to debug a failed repair), or (b) we are required to act on actual knowledge of illegal content, as described in the Acceptable use section.
3. How long we keep files
- Files we successfully repair: your uploaded original is deleted as soon as your repair is delivered.
- Files we can't repair: we keep the uploaded original — encrypted, never viewed by a human — for up to 30 days so our repair engine can automatically retry as it improves. After 30 days it is permanently deleted. You can delete it sooner at any time from your results page.
- Files uploaded for a free diagnosis are treated the same way: if we can't repair them, they are kept encrypted — never viewed by a human — for up to 30 days so our repair engine can automatically retry as it improves, then permanently deleted. You can delete yours sooner at any time.
- Repaired files stay available to re-download for 48 hours, then are automatically deleted.
- If you give us an email address so we can send you your download link, we hold that one repair for 7 days instead of 48 hours, so the link still works when you come back to it later. After 7 days the file and its result page are deleted exactly as above. Repairs you don't give us an email for keep the 48-hour window.
- The record of your repair — filename, file type and size, timestamps, your IP address and the technical outcome — is kept for up to 30 days, so if you come back you can still see what happened to a file whose copy we've already deleted. It never includes the contents of your file.
- Other operational logs and metadata (Section 1) may be retained longer for security and service operation, but they never include the contents of your file.
4. No tracking, no selling, no training
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies on filefix.io.
- We do not sell your files, your file contents, or your personal data.
- We do not use your files to train AI models or to build any product other than the repair you asked for.
- Unrepaired files may be automatically re-processed by newer versions of our repair engine during the 30-day window; only structural information about the damage — never your content — is used to improve repair quality.
- When a repair fails, we ask an outside AI service whether a different approach could recover the file. It receives measurements of the damage only: the file's size and type, a map of how random each part of it is, and the positions of the standard format markers we found. It never receives your file, any part of its raw data, any text from inside it, or its filename, and no person reviews it. We require on every request that it be handled only by providers that keep nothing and train on nothing.
5. Service providers
We share data only with the providers that run the service, each bound to protect it, and only as needed:
- Hetzner — secure server hosting (Ashburn, Virginia, USA), where files are processed and stored
- Cloudflare — network security, DNS, and bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs a lightweight automated check when you upload to confirm you are not a bot); we may also use Cloudflare R2 (US) for temporary file storage
- Stripe — payment processing
- Google Workspace — support email (hello@filefix.io)
- Resend — transactional email delivery (your download link), when email delivery is enabled
- OpenRouter — automated repair diagnostics, only while that diagnostic is enabled; it receives the damage measurements described in Section 4, never your file or its contents
We may also disclose information where required by law, as described in the Acceptable use section.
6. Children
FileFix is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete the associated data.
7. Your choices and rights
- Keep your own copy of every original file — repair is best-effort and deletion is automatic and permanent.
- To ask what data we hold about you, or to request deletion of your personal data, email hello@filefix.io; we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, which we will honor as required.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the updated version with a new effective date; material changes will be noted on this page.
- August 15, 2026 — Section 3: stated that the record of your repair — never its contents — is kept for up to 30 days, so a returning visitor can still see what happened to a file whose copy has already been deleted.
- August 15, 2026 — Section 3: stated the 7-day hold that applies when you give us an email address for your download link. Without an email address, nothing changes: the 48-hour window still applies.
- July 31, 2026 — added OpenRouter as a service provider for automated repair diagnostics, and described in Section 4 exactly what it receives.
