filefix — Terms of Service
Effective date: July 5, 2026.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and MCKE Enterprises Worldwide LLC, an Illinois limited liability company doing business as filefix ("filefix," "we," "us"). By checking the consent box, uploading a file, or paying for a repair, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the Acceptable use section below. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. What filefix does
filefix is a web tool that attempts to repair broken or corrupted files. You upload a file, filefix runs automated repair processing, shows you a free preview of what was recovered, and — only if you choose to pay — lets you download the repaired result.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and legally able to enter into this agreement.
3. Your license to us (processing-only)
When you upload a file, you grant filefix a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process that file solely to provide the repair service to you. That is the entire license.
- filefix claims no ownership of your file or its contents.
- We do not use your files to train models, build datasets or products, or for any purpose other than repairing the file for you.
- This license ends automatically when your file is deleted (see Section 6).
4. Your responsibilities
Before uploading, you must affirm — via the required, unchecked-by-default consent box — that:
- you own the file or otherwise have the legal right to upload and repair it;
- the file contains no illegal content; and
- you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Acceptable use section.
You are solely responsible for the files you upload and for keeping your own copy of every original file. See the Acceptable use section for prohibited content and uses. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate service to anyone we reasonably believe is violating these Terms or the law.
5. Payment and refunds
The repair preview is free. Downloading a repaired file requires a one-time payment at the price shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which is part of these Terms. Prices may change at any time, but never for a purchase you have already completed.
6. File retention and deletion
- Uploaded originals are deleted as soon as repair processing completes.
- Repaired files stay available to re-download for 48 hours, then are automatically deleted.
- After deletion, files cannot be recovered — by you or by us. Always keep your own copy of the original file.
7. Best-effort service; disclaimer of warranties
Repair is inherently uncertain. Some files cannot be recovered, and some recoveries are partial. The preview exists so you can judge the result before paying.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT ANY FILE WILL BE REPAIRED, THAT ANY REPAIRED FILE WILL BE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) FILEFIX AND MCKE ENTERPRISES WORLDWIDE LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, FILES, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE REPAIR GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
9. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MCKE Enterprises Worldwide LLC and its members, officers, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) files you upload; (b) your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable use section; or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
10. Binding arbitration; class-action waiver; opt-out
10.1 Agreement to Arbitrate. You and MCKE Enterprises Worldwide LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the filefix service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
10.2 Class-Action Waiver. You and MCKE may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
10.3 30-Day Opt-Out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@filefix.io with the statement "I opt out of arbitration." Opting out does not affect any other provision of these Terms.
10.4 Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this arbitration provision.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version with a new effective date; material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Acceptable use section, and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign them. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
13. Contact

Acceptable use
filefix is operated by MCKE Enterprises Worldwide LLC. This policy explains what you may and may not upload to filefix. It works together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and is part of your agreement with us.
1. Ownership affirmation
Before uploading, you must confirm — using the checkbox on the upload screen, which is unchecked by default and must be checked to proceed — that:
- You own the file, or otherwise have the legal right to upload and repair it, and
- The file does not contain illegal content.
If you cannot truthfully affirm both, do not upload the file.
2. Prohibited content and uses
You may not use filefix to upload, process, or store files that:
- Contain child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor. This is absolutely prohibited and is reported (see Section 4).
- Are otherwise illegal under applicable law, or that you do not have the right to possess or process.
- Infringe someone else's intellectual property or other rights.
- Contain malware, or are uploaded to attack, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Violate another person's privacy or contain their personal data that you have no right to process.
You also may not attempt to circumvent our technical or usage limits, or use the service in a way that harms filefix or its users.
3. Our posture on your files
By default, no human and no AI opens the contents of your file without your explicit consent. We designed filefix as a deliberate "no-knowledge-by-default" service. See the Privacy Policy for details. This is a privacy commitment — it is not a shield for illegal use.
4. Illegal content — how we respond
filefix does not proactively surveil the content of your files. However, if we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM or other clearly illegal content (for example, through an abuse report or a lawful request):
- We will preserve the relevant file and associated data as required by law.
- For CSAM, we will report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required for U.S. providers, and cooperate with law enforcement.
- We will not silently delete such content to make it disappear.
Our internal handling process is documented in the abuse runbook (internal).
5. Consequences
Violating this policy may result in:
- Immediate removal or blocking of the offending file,
- Suspension or termination of your access, and
- Preservation and reporting to the appropriate authorities where the law requires it (see Section 4).
6. Reporting abuse
To report a file or use that violates this policy, contact hello@filefix.io or use the contact page. Include enough detail for us to locate and act on the report. We aim to acknowledge and respond promptly.
