Corrupted HEIC file — what can still be recovered.
A HEIC photo that shows as corrupted, blank or unreadable may still hold a decodable image inside a damaged container. Upload it: FileFix tries to decode the primary image and shows a watermarked preview before payment. The repaired download is a PNG, not a HEIC.

We couldn't recover this one.
The file is too damaged to rebuild, so there is nothing to preview and no charge.

Try a deep repair
The repair engine can try a longer pass on the file you already uploaded.
Machine-only processing; no human views files; nothing is sent to an outside AI.
Have another clip from the same device?
A healthy video recorded on the same device — ideally the same settings — gives the repair engine a template to rebuild from. It can unlock repairs that fail on their own.
Unrepaired files are kept encrypted for up to 30 days, then deleted.
FileFix can't fix that kind of file yet.
Right now we repair video, audio, document, and image files (MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, AVI, TS, MTS, M2TS, MPG, MPEG, VOB, 3GP, WebM, FLV, M4A, WAV, MP3, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, AIFF, XLSX, DOCX, PPTX, ODT, ZIP, RAR, PDF, AI, HEIC, and HEIF). We're adding support for more formats over time.

Why this happens
A HEIC file is an image container: a set of boxes that describe the photo, then the compressed image data, often split into tiles. A corrupted HEIC usually means the container is damaged — a copy or sync cut short, a card or drive error, or an app that wrote the file incompletely — so viewers refuse the whole file.
Sometimes the image data survives the damage and can still be decoded. Sometimes the pixels themselves are missing, for example when the end of the file was never written. FileFix only offers a result when the primary image decodes completely; if pixels are missing, you are told so and are not charged.
The repair decodes the primary image and saves it as a PNG with the decoded dimensions. It does not recover metadata such as date and location, other images in the container, or the video half of a Live Photo.
What this repair can and cannot return
We can usually fix
- A complete, decodable primary HEIC or HEIF image
- A repaired PNG with the decoded image dimensions
We can't fix
- Files whose image pixels are missing or cannot be decoded
- Metadata, multiple-image preservation, or Live Photo recovery
How it works
-
Upload Upload one HEIC or HEIF file.
-
Free watermarked preview We decode recoverable image data and show a watermarked image preview before payment.
-
Pay & download If the preview is useful, pay once and download the repaired PNG.
A preview is offered only when complete image pixels decode successfully.

Questions
Most often a transfer, cloud sync or card write that stopped before the file was complete, or bytes changed on a failing drive or card. The container that tells viewers where the image is can then no longer be read.
Only if the missing part is still in the file. FileFix offers a result only when the whole primary image decodes; when image data was never written, there is nothing to decode and no preview is offered.
No. The repaired PNG holds the decoded image only; metadata, extra images in the container and Live Photo video are not recovered.
