Why game-recorder clips won't play
Gameplay recorders — Fraps, Action!, Mirillis Action, and similar tools — write your footage to an MP4 or AVI as you play. The part a player needs to open the file, whether that's the MP4 index or the AVI's frame index, is written at the end, when recording stops cleanly.
A crash, a lock-up, a full drive, or closing the recorder before stopping skips that final step. The footage is on disk but the index is missing or truncated, so the clip won't open even though its size looks right.
Because the footage is usually intact, this is often recoverable. FileFix reads what the recorder wrote, rebuilds the missing index — including AVI frame indexes — and returns a playable file, with a free preview of exactly how much was recovered before you pay.
The one case we can't fix: a 0-byte or empty file, where recording stopped before any footage reached the disk. We'll say so plainly and you won't be charged.
