Why VOB files stop playing
VOB files hold the video of a DVD: an MPEG program stream of small packs, split into files of up to 1 GB, with menus and navigation in the IFO files next to them.
A scratched disc, a rip or copy that stopped partway, or a home DVD recorder that was never finalized can leave packs damaged or the file cut short. Players then refuse it or stop early.
FileFix reads the packs that are present and rebuilds a playable file, and only offers checkout when it produces one. Footage that never reached the file cannot be recreated.
