Why Game Bar captures end up broken
Windows' Xbox Game Bar (Win+G) records gameplay to an MP4 in your Videos\Captures folder. Like every MP4 recorder, it writes the footage as it goes but only writes the index — the block a player needs to open the file — when the capture is stopped cleanly.
If the game crashes, Windows closes the app, the PC sleeps, or the capture is cut off mid-write, that index is never finished. The clip sits in your Captures folder at a normal size but won't open in any player.
The footage is generally intact, so this is often recoverable. FileFix reads what Game Bar wrote, rebuilds the index, and returns a playable file — with a free preview of exactly how much was recovered before you pay.
The one case we can't fix: a 0-byte or empty capture, where recording stopped before any footage was written. We'll say so plainly and you won't be charged.
