Failure-mode explanation

Drone footage breaks for the same reasons GoPro footage does: the aircraft loses power, the card fills mid-flight, or a hard landing cuts the recording before the file is finished. DJI drones — Mavic, Air, Mini, Phantom, and the rest — record standard video files, so when a recording is interrupted, the footage is captured but the file never gets its closing structure written. It won't open, plays black, or errors out.

DJI footage is often recoverable when the footage was written and the file is a supported video format. filefix reads the footage that was captured, rebuilds the missing structure, and produces a playable MP4. You see a free watermarked preview and the exact recovered length before you decide to pay.

There is a free command-line tool some drone pilots use for this, but it means installing software and running commands with no way to confirm the result first. filefix lets you upload the file and watch a preview before any money changes hands.

The honest limits are the same as always: a genuinely empty file, or a flight where the camera cut out before real footage was written, may have too little to rebuild. If so, we tell you and don't charge.
